Profile of the Hispanic/Latino Community in Monroe County

A profile of the Hispanic/Latino Community in Monroe County was recently released by Ibero American Action League. The report was prepared by Center for Governmental Research with significant funding support from the Community Foundation.

The report complements the ACT Rochester Report on Racial and Ethnic Inequalities in the Greater Rochester Region but delves deeper into the Hispanic/Latino Community.

Early Prenatal Care – How Can We Get the Numbers Higher?

ACT Rochester has just updated data on early prenatal care. This is the kind of cause most everyone can get behind – who wouldn't want more pregnant women getting timely care for themselves and their growing babies? Yet, the numbers have proven hard to move. This might change if the Supreme Court upholds national health reform and its mandate to carry health insurance, but studies suggest having health insurance isn't the only factor.

Our Community Report Card

On Tuesday March 27th, more than 250 people attended an event where ACT Rochester delivered Our Community Report Card, where data from our seven-county region in 12 topic areas were compared to New York state. In addition, long-term trending and some disparities were reviewed. This objective assessment of our region's well-being was then discussed in small groups to determine how every person and organization can participate in community problem-solving and decision-making by using credible, independent, and timely data.

ACT Rochester developed a Racial/Ethnic Disparities Report that demonstrates disparities existing from birth through adulthood that is kept evergreen with the most recent information available.
