High-Quality Education provides the foundation for lifelong opportunity. Access to early childhood education, quality K-12 schools, and pathways to postsecondary education can influence academic achievement, child development, future earnings, and overall well-being.
The New York State Department of Education provides provides information on students, schools, and districts across New York State, including enrollment, assessment results, graduation rates, and other key education indicators. Data.nysed.gov is a valuable resource for exploring education outcomes at the state, regional, district, and school levels.
To help uses navigate and make the most of this resource, we have provided a user guide below.

How to use the NYS Education Indicator dashboard
The benefit of the New York State Department of Education site (data.nysed.gov) is that it holds education information for all schools and districts of the 8-county region. One must merely select which level of information is most relevant for their work.
Additionally, the site is a wealth of information: enrollment data (student demographics), English Language Learners data, school data, and even information about higher education institutions.
Assessment Data
Assessment data is available for multiple grades and subjects. Follow the steps below to build your report:
Step 1
Select ‘DISTRICTS’ from the top menu bar.
Step 2
Identify the district in question and click on ‘School Report Card’.
Step 3
Navigate the Report Card to build your report.
Once you click on ‘School Report Card’ from Step 2, you will arrive at the Report Card landing page that looks like this.
Scroll down to “Assessment Data”.
Select the assessments that are of interest. You are able to select all of the options.
Step 4
After selecting the assessments you want included, scroll up to the blue button that says ‘Build Report’ and click it.
Step 5
View Summary Results
The page that populates after you click the ‘Build Report’ button will look like this. Scroll down to review results from the boxes checked in Step 3. Results are presented in bar charts and tables.
