Installed Solar Energy Capacity

The cumulative capacity of installed distributed solar projects refers to the total amount of energy generation capacity derived from multiple small-scale solar installations spread across the 8-county region. This metric encompasses the combined output of all these individual solar systems.

  • The data for total capacity of installed distributed solar projects is sourced from NYSERDA - Statewide Distributed Solar Projects for the 8-county region. This data does not include utility-scale projects (projects larger than 5MW AC) that participate in the NYISO wholesale market. The unit of measurement for this date is Estimated PV System Size (MWdc). The data spans from 2002 to 2023.

The infographic presents a line graph illustrating the total capacity (MWdc) of solar projects installed across the 8-county region from 2010 to 2023.

Pro Tip: If you hover over the county in the legend, it highlights the line.
